Saturday Night, and Dave's first free night in a long week.

We heard there was a good restaurant up on Fourviere Hill, next to the Basilica. The Basilica, though closed, was glowing golden in the evening light, and we lingered on the terrace before heading to the restaurant.

We took the funicular up to the top of the hill, but after a typical French dinner (two hours, but who's counting?) it was closed.

Radio Tower that looks like a miniature Tour Eiffel

We tarried for awhile, then walked down Rue de l'Antiquaille Montee, trying not to look too touristy, trying not to speak (English) to call attention to ourselves. We landed in Party Central at the base of the hill, scads of people hitting the bars, having a great time on a Saturday night in Lyon.

The view from across the river, towards the Basilica and the radio tower. The bands of lights at the base of the buildings, above the river are "car parks." We are so old that all we wanted to go was go to sleep, so we walked through Place Bellecour and home to our hotel, finding this green pool on our way.
