Heartland: Dinner for Threshers

Heartland: Dinner for Threshers
This picture hangs in my parents' kitchen, over their table. It reminds my mother of her early life on the farm, and when the hired help would come in for their mid-day dinner, first washing up outside, then sitting on a variety of chairs scavenged from all over the house (including the piano stool) with the women busy in the kitchen, getting the meal ready.
When in Minnesota this weekend, we went to the Children's Museum, where we posed in a latter-day rendition of Grant Woods' tableau.

No steaming bowls of mashed potatoes in this picture, though after this we did head for Chipotle's for burritos, quesadillas, guacamole and chips. More pictures to follow of our very enjoyable weekend, but I've got to get to work. A trip away is fun, but the work at home remains when you return.
