How I'm Spending My Summer Vacation

Some have asked what I've been doing lately.

First, I did all those things I left undone during the last two semesters of teaching school, even finding some un-read Christmas cards in the basket as I went through them. And one bill.

I read the middle third of my father's memoir, edited it, and went up to Utah to visit him. I read the last third of his memoir, edited it and am headed up there on Sunday to visit with him.

I gave a talk in church.

I had some home renovations performed.

I had the five floorboards replaced where they dropped the counter slab tear-out.

I cleaned up after all the workmen (not a sexist term; I promise they were all men).

I made this:

And this:

And a couple of other things, like a skirt (which I have to fix a bit) and stuff.

How's your summer vacation going?

I love the quilts! They are both very different in style. The first one reminds me a little of fall and snuggling. And the gerber daisies has more of a "get-up-and-greet-the-day" attitude about it. I am really impressed.

I'm also thankful to know that I'm not alone, and that you have (what I would consider) a crap basket. Mine is in the form of a rubbermaid tote. Currently mine contains the opened Christmas cards, a purse pattern I've been meaning to sew, some random board game pieces, and most likely a bill (but lets hope not!)

As for what I've been up to this summer: camping, battling swine flu (not confirmed, but I'm certain it was), enjoying the unusually rainy June, working on Laney's Lifebook, baking granola, learning how to clicker train a dog, enjoying garden strawberries and now raspberries, and framing the basement with my hubby. Oh, and trying to maintain a daily routine with five kids for the sake of their sanity and mine.

As always, I enjoy reading your blog!

Wow, Elizabeth! Gorgeous! You are amazing! I myself sewed a couple of burp cloths this week for a friend's daughter. Does that count as creative?

Your quilts are lovely. I have also been sorting through things left unattended. It is a good feeling to finally pay attention to some of those bits and pieces of life.
