Quilt Show, Part I
Leisa and I signed up for the same class: Let Me Surprise You. The pieces are all cut out by lasers ahead of time and we sit and sew. A nice change from hours of blading out the pieces.

To try and liven us all up, she passed out
Fizzies to those who dared. It didn't work. We kept madly at it like seamstresses in shirt factory.

At the end of the day, I pose with the teacher and my finished quilt block. The overall quilt is a lovely impressionistic design of yellows and blues.

We headed back to the hotel to check in, then wandered out for dinner. The sun's reflection on a neighboring building caught my fancy.

Long Beach Convention Center. It's a nice place.

It has these pineapple-looking finials atop the columns by the stairs, made out of blades of green glass. It was like some ornate newel post.

The harbor. This is where the Queen Mary docks--you can see the smokestack on the far right, in the distance.

The pineapple finials at night.
